Job Market

Bookings for our Spring Job Market on Tuesday 21 March 2017 are now closed.

Stalls at the Jobs and Opportunities Marketplace in 2015 Raise your brand profile among our 13,000 students and attract genuinely diverse future talent to your workforce at the University of Essex Job Market 2017.

The Spring Job Market is an exclusive event for employers of any size with live or upcoming opportunities for our students or graduates.

Our marketplace-style fair takes place outside in gazebos throughout our central squares, the social heart of our Colchester Campus, through which students head to their lectures and seminars.

Open to employers with paid job roles as well as UK registered charities with volunteering opportunities, the focus is very much on live opportunities that students or graduates can apply to right now.

It doesn't matter if they're full-time permanent jobs for graduates, temporary or casual jobs for the season or ongoing part-time opportunities for students - if you're recruiting between April and September, this fair is for you.

The Essex student

We aim to develop students who are:

  • prepared for the future and equipped for lifelong learning

We're working hard to equip our students with the skills and attributes employers seek, to turn out the future talent your business needs.

We have invested heavily in our student experience to help our students thrive. We provide the means for them to discover their strengths, to flourish and grow with us regardless of their background. Our commitment to their employability has been recognised nationally.

    • Winner of the Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Support for Students thanks to innovative employability schemes such as frontrunners work placements.
    • Winner of the Local Impact Work Inspiration Award from Business in the Community.
    • Finalist in the 'Most improved commitment to employability' category at the National Placement & Internship Awards 2013.
    • Runner-up in the AGCAS Student and Graduate Employability Award for Excellence 2013.
    • Top ten for student satisfaction (English mainstream universities, NSS 2016)

  • thought leaders

Our students learn from academics at the forefront of their fields. They are encouraged to innovate and push the boundaries of thought.

We're ranked 9th in the UK for the quality of our academic research, and a quarter of our research is rated as world-leading. Over 90% of our research output is internationally recognised for its quality.

We're the UK's leading university in social sciences with politics and sociology ranked first, economics third and linguistics fourth nationally. In humanities, history was ranked second, and art history and philosophy feature in the top ten. Essex Business School was ranked second in the UK for accounting and finance research.

  • innovative and entrepreneurial

Our students have been recognised for their innovation and entrepreneurialism and will bring this innovative spirit with them into your workplace.

Our students won the Grand Final of this year's IBM Universities Business Challenge and came third in the 2013 National Student Apprentice (NSA) Challenge. Enactus Essex won the Best Professional Development Programme award at the RBS Enterprising Student Society Accreditation (ESSA) awards and we are in the top five for enterprising students in the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Group rankings, which recognise how students get involved in university life through organising activities, events, volunteering and fundraising.

  • culturally diverse and globally aware

The diversity of our student body creates a vibrant campus experience – generating a diverse, globally and culturally aware candidate pool to enrich your workforce.

We are one of the UK's most internationally diverse campus universities with students drawn from many different cultural and economic backgrounds. We are proud of our diverse student community, our strong links with leading universities across the world and the global impact of our work. We offer our students free language learning alongside their degree and have vastly grown our Essex Abroad offer, enabling our home students to broaden their horizons. We concentrate more on the future potential of our students than we do on their background.

Don't just take our word for it. Exhibit at our Job Market and find out what our students are like for yourself.
