Cultural life at Southend and Loughton Campuses
There are number of varied and exciting events taking place around all three of
our campuses, including exhibitions and performances at our arts and theatre venues. Check out the events diary to find out what's coming soon.
The Forum is a unique
partnership between the University, Southend Borough Council and South
Essex College, providing a state-of-the-art library and learning facilities in
the heart of Southend. This partnership also includes a range of
in The Forum, including public lectures, author talks and the
Essex Book Festival.
Our Southend Campus is home to the
Clifftown Theatre and Studios, housed in a stunning converted gothic
church which has been sympathetically renovated to incorporate five large
studios, two seminar rooms, a wardrobe department, props store and workshop,
foyer bar and a state-of-the-art, 200-seat theatre.
East 15 Acting School
The theatre also provides a base for our
East 15 Acting School and community facilities. The School is
engaged in the community. Activities include public workshops, arts
taster sessions, outreach youth work and specific themed or community
performances and projects, such as the Pandemonium Street Theatre Festival.
The Essex Collection of Art from
Latin America (ESCALA) holds exhibitions in the
Beecroft Art Gallery. Find out about the latest exhibition,

The Focal Point Gallery
is located in The Forum
and produces art exhibitions both in and outside The Forum building.
Our Loughton Campus is home to our
East 15 Acting School based around Hatfields, a beautiful Georgian dower
house, offering state-of-the-art studios, technical equipment and theatre
