The Centre currently awards three prizes for undergraduate students.
BA Psychoanalytic Studies/BA Therapeutic Care First Year
This will be for the student who receives the highest overall essay marks in
the first year of their degree, and also meets the following conditions:
- One piece of work must be at 1st Class level;
- The year grade overall must be at least at 2.1 level;
- The decision would be made by the summer exam board.
The prize would be available from the time the student registers for the
autumn term of the second year.
The Hannah Curtis Prize
This prize is awarded for the best BA Therapeutic Communication and
Therapeutic Organisations long essay mark (PA213, long essay mark not overall
The Kegerreis Prize
This prize is awarded to the student with the best overall mark on BA (Hons)
Therapeutic Communication and Therapeutic Organisations. profile of marks.

Paul Ford Memorial Prize
This prize is awarded to the best (dissertation mark) in MA Psychoanalytic
The Sigmund Freud Memorial Student Prize
This prize, generously donated by Paterson Marsh Associates on behalf of
Sigmund Freud Copyrights, is awarded annually to the student who completes the
MA Psychoanalytic Studies with a distinction and the best overall profile of
The David Holt Prize
This prize, generously donated by Mrs Edith Holt, the widow of distinguished
Jungian analyst David Holt, is awarded annually to the student who completes the
MA Jungian and Post-Jungian Studies with a distinction and the best overall
profile of marks.
Research Student Blog
The Research Student Blog helps you to communicate with other research
students, posing questions to staff, or receiving occasional messages and
information. It can be developed, expanded, modified however you wish. As well
as having discussions you can upload pictures or texts. It is particularly
useful for distance learners as a way of making your voice heard in the CPS

Ask a postgraduate
Ask an experienced postgraduate student about living and studying at Essex
through our online mentoring scheme. Our mentors will be happy to answer your questions at any stage during your postgraduate degree.
