Our academic staff

Our academic staff include clinically qualified lecturers covering a range of subject areas, and the multi-disciplinary nature of the School fosters a dynamic and innovative learning environment.

Since opening our doors in 1994 we have gained a reputation for innovation, a 'can-do' attitude and for the fact that our staff make up a vast pool of highly regarded specialists in their own clinical and academic fields. This means that we are able to create and provide an array of specialist workshops and bespoke training (as well as our existing modules and pathways) to suit the needs of not only you as an individual, but also the needs of the organisations you work within.

Recently we have provided workshops on:

  • Phonetics (for speech and language therapists)
  • Personal leadership (for all professions)
  • Mindfulness and inner dialogue (for clinical psychologists)
  • Mentorship and clinical educator days (for all professions)
  • Tissue viability (for HCAs, student nurses and registered nurses)

Recent projects

We are regularly commissioned by different health and social care organisations to set up specialist training. Most recently we worked with Health Education East of England. Who commissioned us to provide four symposiums for the health and social care workers in the East of England. The symposiums covered:

  • Collaborative Health - Listening to the people who use health services
  • Using social media to enhance health care practice
  • Decisions matter - Sharing clinical decision making
  • Celebrating Excellence in community workforce developments across Essex, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

In 2013/2014 we worked with Cambridge and Peterborough Foundation Trust (CPFT) on a large bespoke project called Empowered to Care (.pdf) and aimed specifically at healthcare support workers employed by CPFT.

An in-house training programme in line with the Trust’s Performance Management Competency Frameworks. It provided knowledge and skills to enable healthcare support workers to show that they are not only integral high performing staff, but that they work to agreed and consistent standards across their organisation.
