CPD events for teachers

At Essex we want to invest in the next generation of students to better prepare them for future university study. We recognise that teachers are an important part of this preparation and therefore we are committed to investing in teachers’ continuing professional development wherever we can.

Our 2017 CPD events are currently being organised. Please check back here for further details in the coming months.

  • Maths events with the Further Maths Support Programme

The University of Essex has an excellent relationship with the Further Mathematics Support Programme (FMSP) and with Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI), the educational charity which manages the FMSP.

The University is a fund-holder for the FMSP, providing a centre for FMSP activity in the East of England. Dr Chris Saker is an FMSP Area Coordinator and he is based in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. The University is proud to be able to contribute to the excellent enrichment opportunities, teacher training and resources provided by the FMSP.

    How to register

Registration with the FMSP is free and once registered teachers have access to student enrichment events and teacher CPD events which will be of great benefit to anyone teaching mathematics at A level and Key Stage 4.

  • Professional training for pastoral care

Our Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies offers a range of CPD courses that will help you as teachers and pastoral staff to develop skills and expertise in your role. Courses range from improving personal leadership skills, to working with those who self-harm, and training to counsel children and adolescents. You'll be taught by our highly acclaimed academics and clinicians on a range of one-day workshops, summer schools and credit-bearing modules.
