Employability events

Students at a careers fair

We have lots of careers events and workshops running this term, all designed to help you develop skills, research future career options and meet employers. Some are one-off annual events, so don't miss out.

We know competition for jobs is getting more and more fierce. That's why we are here, to support you. With our expert help on all areas of employability, you'll stand out from the crowd.

We help you to develop the skills you need for a rewarding career through:

  • Career learning in the curriculum, designed to develop your understanding of career options, identify areas of interest and kick-start your career planning and development
  • Bespoke placement year workshops designed to prepare you for the realities of life on work placement
  • Access to application support through our Job Club, CV workshops and mock interviews
  • Opportunities to network with a range of professionals from different organisations through a programme of career events such as speed-networking, career panels, guest speakers and workplace visits
  • Placement vacancies and CareerHub opportunities.

Our University publishes an employability statement which describes in more detail how we support you during and after your studies.

  • Work placements

It's really important to get some work experience before you graduate so you can learn more about a particular sector, company or job role, and apply your academic knowledge in a practical working environment, giving you ideas of what you want to do as a future career.

Many of our Departments give you the chance to take up a work placement as part of your course.
