You can study your first year at either Essex or the University of Konstanz. Your second year will therefore be taken at the other university. This dual award is linked with both our Department of Economics and our Department of Government, where you have the opportunity to study one of the following Masters degree with us:

At the University of Konstanz you will either study MSc Economics or MA Politics and Public Administration. Teaching at both Essex and Konstanz will be in English.
To apply for this dual award, you first need to decide with which university to do your first year.
If you're applying for a politics degree, you will need to meet the standard entry requirements of your chosen course at both Konstanz and Essex.
If you're applying for an economics degree, and if you decide to study at Essex first, you need to make an application for one of the above economics Masters degrees. You will then make a second application the following year for MSc Economics at Konstanz by their admissions deadline of 15 April. If you decide to study at Konstanz first, you will need to apply to them directly via their website. During your year at Konstanz you have the option of applying for one of the economics Masters courses listed above at Essex. You will need to have at least 2.7 in all of your modules in the first year at Konstanz.
If you choose to study at Essex in your second year, you will receive a £1,000 tuition fee discount if you're a politics student and a £3,000 tuition fee discount if you're an economic student under this arrangement. If you choose to study at Konstanz in your second year, you will not pay tuition fees, but you will be required to pay an administrative fee (this fee is subject to change).
