Kicking off the start of your academic journey, Welcome Week offers an array of activities designed to help you settle in, make new friends, and integrate into our academic community.
During your course induction, you will:
- have the opportunity to meet your lecturers, get acquainted with your course structure, and connect with peers who will share this journey with you.
- find out about the modules you will be studying, your placements and how you will be assessed later on in the year.
- Learn about the tools and resources that you will be using, and the support that is available to you, particularly in terms of developing your skills with academic writing, reflective learning and accessing the University Library.
- be supported to complete your mandatory training and learn about the professional requirements for students training to be a practitioner in health and social care.
This is also time to immerse yourself in the academic environment, ask questions, and begin forming the relationships that will support and inspire you throughout your studies.
The Welcome Week schedule for your course will be published to new students on Moodle, the University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), from 3rd September 2024. Once you have set up your Essex IT account, you’ll be able to login to Moodle to enrol on the Online Welcome Programme and download your induction schedule from here.
On Thursday 3 October, our students are also invited to join our School of Health and Social Care Mixer hosted by the Students’ Union.
