Why do we behave and think in certain ways?
How do we develop and understand the world? What goes on deep down in our emotions, relationships and society as a whole?
At Essex, you study the role of the unconscious mind in mental health, culture and society, as we consider the many psychosocial factors which influence our lives. You're taught by our internationally-recognised experts, from a range of disciplines in depth psychology and psychosocial studies. Our professors and lecturers focus on theoretical, methodological and clinical thinking, whilst our clinicians and practitioners help people with mental health problems, social and emotional difficulties. We're educating the next generation of mental health, education and social care professionals, developing students with the critical and research skills necessary to contribute to society and bring about change.
Our close relationships with the National Health Service, education, care services and professional institutions ensure what you're taught is always relevant, up-to-date and responds to the social need.
So, if you're fascinated by human relationships and culture and want to dig deeper, welcome home.
