Have your say and make a difference to the future of the University.
On 19 September 2024 we launched our Employee Voice survey which is open to all employees at the University of Essex. This includes colleagues on all contract types and those who work in our subsidiaries. The survey will be open for colleagues to complete until the end of October 2024.
We last ran an Employee Voice survey in 2019, just before the pandemic hit in March 2020, which led to an unprecedented period. Since this time we have run successful surveys on flexible working, workload, Athena SWAN and the Race Equality Charter.
The survey allows us to understand your needs, experiences, and suggestions so that together we can make the University an even better place to work. We are committed to creating a workplace where every voice is heard and valued and would greatly appreciate your participation in the survey. Only by doing this can we create a better, more inclusive and innovative workplace.
We have worked very closely with colleagues in the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER), our survey specialists. They have advised on questions and built the survey for us in a survey tool called formr which sits on the University server and is specifically designed to capture survey data easily and securely. We have also consulted with colleagues in Communications and External Relations, the Institute for Analytics and Data Science, Inclusion, Health and Wellbeing, Governance, Commercial Applications, Data Management and our recognised campus Trade Unions. We’ve also held focus groups inviting members of our community to share their views and ideas on survey themes.
How to take part
You can access the survey via a link in an email which you will have received from our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Maria Fasli.
The email was sent on Wednesday 25 September.
You can find it in your emails by searching for 'Complete our 2024 Employee Voice survey'.
To complete the survey all you have to do is click on the link in the email. It should only take about 10 minutes to complete.
The survey is anonymous and meets all UK GDPR requirements.
Once the survey closes at the end of October the anonymous data will be analysed by our colleagues in ISER and the top-line results will be shared via email in December. We will be able to share departmental data at the start of 2025 so that we can begin to action plan based on the results.
Please share your thoughts and ideas to help shape the future of the University.
