The Institute for Analytics and Data Science (IADS) is pleased to announce its new partnership with the Eastern Cyber Resilence Centre (ECRC) as a friend of the Centre.

This collaboration strengthens the University’s commitment to advancing cybersecurity research and innovation while fostering closer ties with industry leaders.

The ECRC helps protect small and medium enterprises, supply chain businesses, and third sector organisations in the East of England from cyber crime.

By collaborating with local universities and regional police forces, the ECRC offers vital resources such as access to the latest intelligence on emerging threats, trends, and best practices for cyber resilience. It also provides affordable testing, training services, and expert guidance on procuring cybersecurity services.

For over five decades, the University of Essex has been a leader in data science, housing some of the world’s most respected researchers in fields like data science, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

IADS is at the heart of this expertise, bridging the gap between academia and industry by working with businesses, health trusts, local authorities, and governments to address complex societal challenges.

As we join the Friends of the ECRC, we are excited to align our resources and expertise with those of the Centre in tackling cybercrime resilience within businesses across the East of England.

Through our data science and analytics capabilities, we aim to create solutions that are not only innovative but also trustworthy, empowering businesses to strengthen their cybersecurity frameworks and navigate the evolving risks of the digital age.

Director of IADS, Professor Haris Mouratidis said “This partnership with the ECRC reflects our shared goal of creating impactful solutions to the cybersecurity challenges facing local businesses.

"Through collaboration, we are able to leverage our interdisciplinary approach and cutting-edge data science and analytics expertise to offer businesses the tools and knowledge they need to thrive securely in the digital age."

Paul Lopez, Director of the ECRC said: “IADS at The University of Essex have proven themselves to be fantastic partners to the CRC network, both in the Eastern region and further afield, and I am proud to announce that they are joining us as a Friend of the Centre.

"They have supported the national Cyber PATH program by allowing the network to recruit undergraduate students who go on to be trained to deliver commercial cyber services to public and private sector bodies all over the region. And they have provided opportunities for us to engage with microbusinesses as part of Essex Startups.

"As a truly outstanding collaborative educational establishment, we look forward to working with each other on a series of exciting innovative projects in the months and years to come, in order to build upon the cyber resilience of the region's business community.”

IADS looks forward to the opportunities this partnership will bring, contributing to the ECRC’s mission of advancing cybersecurity practices, and fostering innovation in response to the challenges of an increasingly digital world.
