June Thoburn, CBE, LittD, is an Emeritus Professor of Social Work at the University of East Anglia. Before joining UEA she worked as a specialist child and family social worker and as a ‘generalist’ community social worker in Canada and England. Her teaching and research have encompassed social policy and more specifically services for vulnerable children and their parents and carers. A 2016 publication (Taylor, J. and Thoburn, J Collaborative Practice with Vulnerable Children and Their Families CRC Press) focused on collaborative practice (between professionals and with family members). She has a long-term interest in socio-legal and cross-national aspects of social work policy and practice with children and families. Between 2012 and 2020 she was Chair of the Norfolk Family Justice Board and is currently Co-Chair of BASW Children and Families Group.
