We are pleased to announce that the 2024 Annual John Nankervis Memorial Lecture entitled, 'Forecast Evaluation in the Presence of Instability', will be given by Professor David Harvey (University of Nottingham) on Thursday 23rd May 2024.

John died in 2012 and is still hugely missed by his colleagues.

An outstanding researcher, John’s work was published in many of the top journals in econometrics, including: Econometrica; the Journal of Econometrics; the Journal of the American Statistical Association; the Journal of Business Economics and Statistics; Econometric Theory and the Econometrics Journal.

His work was also published in leading international economics and finance journals, such as the International Economic Review, the Journal of Empirical Finance and the European Journal of Finance.

How to attend this lecture

The lecture will be held in Essex Business School (room EBS.2.34), located on the Colchester Campus at the University of Essex.

Attendance is free and open to all, there is no need to register your place.

For those who cannot attend in person, there will also be an opportunity to follow the lecture on Zoom (984 6990 8138).

Speaker bio

Professor David Harvey

David Harvey has been a member of staff in the School of Economics at the University of Nottingham since October 2003. He is a Professor of Econometrics. His research interests are in the area of time series econometrics, in particular tests for unit roots and structural change, forecast evaluation and applied time series analysis in general.

He has published in journals such as the Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Econometric Theory, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Econometrics Journal, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Forecasting, International Journal of Forecasting.
