Please join us for a lecture hosted by Essex Law School and the Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex.

We are delighted that Mr Gehad Madi will be presenting the lecture, which will be moderated by Dr Matthew Gillett, with reflections from Essex Academics, including Professor Geoff Gilbert and emerging voices including Kavita Mohanty and Virginia Carnabuci.

Featured speaker 

Mr Gehad Madi was appointed by the Human Rights Council in October 2023 as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants starting on 1 November 2023.

Moderated by Dr Matthew Gillett, PhD, FHEA, Senior Lecturer at Essex Law School, University of Essex. United Nations Chair Rapporteur of Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, Co-editor of The Hartford Guidelines on Speech Crimes in International Criminal Law (PJI, 2017) and Author of Prosecuting Environmental Harm before the International Criminal Court (CUP, 2022).
