About this event

The symposium has been arranged to unveil the Journal of Energy and Natural Resources Law's (JERL) special issue on energy justice discourse with perspectives from the Global South. JERL is a peer-reviewed publication affiliated with the Energy, Environment, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure Law Section of the International Bar Association. The guest editors for the special issue, Dr Godswill Agbaitoro (Essex Law School), Professor Karen Hulme (Essex Law School), and Dr Margaretha Wewerinke-Singh (Amsterdam Law School), have curated Volume 42, Issue 3 to examine different interpretations of energy justice, with particular emphasis on the viewpoints of global south countries. It further explores the legal and policy approaches to putting the concept into practice by examining different strategies for implementation.

The hybrid symposium is a great chance for energy justice scholars to collaborate and share ideas, focusing on strategic implementation of the concept in the global south. It will be an exciting opportunity to hear from the diverse range of contributors and learn about their research and contributions to the field. The keynote remarks from the editor-in-chief of JERL will provide valuable insights to fuel discussions among guest editors, contributors to the special issue, and attendees.
