Department Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies Welcome Events 2024

Come and find out more about your course and meet key members of the PPS Team.

We'd strongly encourage all new students to attend your induction events, as these are the best way to find out essential information, socialise with other new students and meet your Personal Tutor and other familiar faces in the department. 

Monday 30 September

11am-12pm BA TCTO student induction and BA Psychodynamic Practice welcome back for year 2 and 3 students

Tuesday 1 October

11am-1pm MAJ distance learners and MA Refugee Care distance learners - via Zoom

10am-12pm MAPCP returning 2nd and 3rd year students

Wednesday 2 October – PGT Induction Day

This is our key induction day for all PGT students and will include a welcome to the department and to your course as well as providing lots of useful, practical information about our department and your studies. The day will end with tea and cake and will be a chance to socialise with staff and your fellow students. 

Thursday 3 October – Undergraduate Induction Day

This is our key induction day for all undergraduate students and will include a welcome to the department and to your course as well as a chance to meet your personal tutors. There will be workshops and talks providing lots of useful, practical information about our department and your studies (including “How to be and Academic Writer” and “How to Use the Library”). There will also be a session for returning year 2 and 3 students.

Thursday 3 October – PGR Induction Day

This is our key induction day for all PhD students and will include Essex’s PGR Conference as well as a welcome to the department and to your course. Morning coffee and pastries and lunch will be provided.

We expect all our students to attend to attend their welcome events as you will receive important information to help you start your university experience.  There is more information on the departmental welcome website so please look at those pages and your Essex email in-box regularly during the run up to Welcome Week 2024.
