Welcome to the Lakeside Theatre

At Essex, we believe that theatre is for everyone.

The Lakeside Theatre is your on-campus theatre. We don't mean to brag but we've been called the best university theatre in the UK.

Come and meet our team, tour the theatre and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of our café (our café will be open 9am to 5pm daily throughout Welcome Week).

We will also have a stand on Square 5 on Monday 30 September, Tuesday 1 October and Thursday 3 October as part of the Welcome Village (11am to 2pm) and at Freshers Fair all day on Friday 4 October where you can find out about upcoming shows, pick up a programme and speak to our team about memberships. You can also win prizes and claim the best goody bag on campus!

We will also be hosting a welcome workshop for drama students on Wednesday 2 October, 1pm to 3pm, where the newest drama students from the Department of Literature, Film and Theatre Studies will get an intimate tour of the theatre and get to know your teaching staff for the year.
