Your department induction is an essential part of Welcome Week.

Below are the events being held in the Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies throughout Welcome Week 2024.

Undergraduates

Tuesday 1st October 2024

4pm - 6pm Undergraduate Induction

Join the Department of Literature, Film and Theatre Studies for this informal induction event involving welcome talks from the Head of Department, Director of Education and Subject Directors.  You will get the chance to meet your peers, lecturers, your personal tutor and the admin team - and we will even provide some free pizza.		  FUNc.
6.30pm - 8.30pm Meet the Film Team + Film Café Screening

Come and watch some short films and meet the Film Team at this informal, café-style event		  TC2.10

Drama Workshop

Join the Drama Team in the Lakeside theatre for this workshop style event, and get a free goody bag! For all new Drama students, including those doing joint degrees.

Join the Creative Writing Team at this workshop-style event.  For all  new Creative Writing students, including those doing joint degrees.

Mini Newsday 

Come and run your own mini-newsday and meet the journalism team.  For all new Journalism students, including those doing joint degrees.

Spend the morning in the LiFTS department, where academics and administrative staff will be ready to welcome you for an informal chat or to answer any specific questions you may have.  No appointment necessary, just drop by! Open to all LiFTS students

 2.15pm - 4pm  Students Union and Library Tours

Meet the friendly and welcoming teams from the Library and the Student's union.  You will be taken on tours and learn about all the amazing facilities that are available to students at Essex.  Open to all new LiFTS students.

 Poetry Evening

Join us in the Lakeside Theatre Bar to hear some of the creative work being produced in the department - you can even present some of your own, but there is no pressure to do so.  Open to all LiFTS students.

An induction event for our PGT students where you will get the chance to meet the MA Director and meet your Personal Tutor.  For all new and returning LiFTS PGT students		   TC2.10
2.30pm - 4.30pm Postgraduate Social

For all postgraduate LiFTS students, an informal event to meet colleagues and peers in a relaxed setting and become part of the LiFTS postgraduate community.
