Department of Sociology and Criminology - Welcome Back (Returning Undergraduate Students)

Welcome back to our returning undergraduate students. The Department of Sociology and Criminology will be hosting a short "Welcome Back" talk to help re-familiarise yourself with study life at Essex, followed by a social event afterwards.

Welcome back, students! We hope you're looking forward to returning to our vibrant campus. To welcome you back to the Department of Sociology and Criminology, we have planned a short talk which will be delivered by a few speakers to help with the transition to the next level of study.

In the session, we'll cover what to expect now that you've progressed to the next year of study and learning. We'll have our Peer Mentors sharing top tips for your second year or final year, and include information on a variety of things such as volunteer and extra-curricular opportunities to help you get career ready. There's plenty of ways to make the most of your student experience so we'll be sharing lots in this session on boosting your engagement and learning. We will also be issuing prizes to our top performing undergraduate students, so please attend to celebrate their achievements! 

Later in the afternoon, all students are warmly invited to our New Books seminar. This showcases the latest publications within the Department of Sociology and Criminology and is a fantastic way to hear more about the research that our academic staff are engaging with, as well as network and catch-up with your friends and peers following the Summer vacation. The New Books seminar will take place at 4pm in 6.345.
