The Centre for Work, Organisation and Society (CWOS) invite guest speakers Dr Raysa Rocha (Essex Business School); Professor Constantin Bratianu (UNESCO); Professor Alexander Kaiser (Vienna University of Economics & Business); Dr Ludmila Mládková (Prague University of Economics and Business), and PhD student Paula Marchant-Pérez (University of Beira Interior) to this instalment of the CWOS Research Seminar Series.

In this session Raysa will present her new co-edited book (Spirituality and Knowledge Dynamics) along with four of the contributing authors. The book offers a groundbreaking exploration of how spiritual practices, wisdom traditions, and contemplative approaches can revolutionise organisational effectiveness and well-being.

Speaker bios

Raysa Geaquinto Rocha

Raysa Geaquinto Rocha (PhD) is a lecturer in Organisation Studies and Human Resource Management at the University of Essex. Her research has been published in journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, and Journal of Management Spirituality & Religion. Raysa's scholarly portfolio includes over eighty publications, encompassing articles, book editions, book chapters, proceedings, and presentations at international and national renowned conferences (e.g., Academy of Management Annual Meeting). She is an Associate Editor of the Brazilian Business Review and member of the editorial board of the Social Responsibility Journal. Her research interests centre on individual behaviour and organizational practices that promote knowledge dynamics and spirituality, resulting in a humane strategy for long-term sustainable performance.

Alexander Kaiser

Alexander Kaiser is a professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and head of the Department of Knowledge Management.  He is also the founder and managing director of a small company specializing in coaching, training, and consulting, focusing on vision development processes. His research interests are knowledge-based management, spiritual knowledge management, vision development, and organizational learning. Alexander is the author of numerous scientific articles in journals and at all major conferences in the field of knowledge management. Over the last 10 years, Professor Kaiser has been responsible for numerous organizational development projects in various organizations. His vision is to develop and push deep learning processes for both individuals and organizations so that more and more people and organizations get closer to their best version.

Constantin Bratianu

Constantin Bratianu is Professor Emeritus of Strategic Management and Knowledge Management, UNESCO Department for Business Administration. He has been Visiting Professor at universities in USA, Japan, Austria, Italy, Poland, Hungary and Egypt. He published over 30 books, and 200 papers in international journals and volumes of international conferences. He published several books in knowledge management: Organizational Knowledge Dynamics (2015), IGI Global, USA; Emergent Knowledge Strategies (2017) together with Ettore Bolisani, Springer, Germany; Knowledge Strategies (2022), Cambridge University Press; Knowledge Translation (2024), together with Alexeis Garcia-Perez, Francesca Dal Mas, and Denise Bedford, Emerald. His academic interests are: knowledge strategies, knowledge dynamics, knowledge management, intellectual capital, and strategic management.

Ludmila Mládková

Ludmila Mládková works at the Prague University of Economics and Business, Czech Republic, Faculty of Business Administration. Her primary topics are management and knowledge management. She teaches courses on general management, advanced management, leadership, knowledge management and management of knowledge workers at Czech and abroad universities. Her theoretical knowledge and her experience from practice give her a unique opportunity to look at the problems of management and knowledge management from a systemic view. As for the research, Ludmila sees a significant research gap in the relationship between new management models and knowledge management. She is interested in how new management models work, the prerequisites of their success and how they influence knowledge sharing among employees. She understands spirituality as an inevitable factor of work in such organisations.

Paula F. Marchant-Pérez

Paula F. Marchant-Pérez, PhD student in Management at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), Portugal. She has a master ́s degree in Comprehensive Quality Management and in Community Physiotherapy Care. Also, she is researcher at NECE-UBI Research Centre for Business Sciences and is Associate Professor at Kinesiology School in University of Valparaíso, Chile, in Management Disciplinary Network. Her research lines include strategic and organizational management, and health management.
