Who are we?
We are Soka Gakkai International UK (SGI-UK), a Lay Buddhist Group practising the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin.
What do we believe?
We believe in the dignity of life and that all people are worthy of respect.
We seek to treat each other with kindness and understanding and extend this to all living beings.
To this end, we believe that everyone should treat the environment with care and respect for future generations.
How do we practice?
We chant Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, which is the title of the Lotus Sutra and the ultimate Law of Life.
We have a number of meetings in the community, which you would be welcome to join, and also celebrate a number of key dates in our calendar.
Where are we?
We are based in the Faith Centre (Room 3.311) and meet there on the second Monday of every month from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm to chant and have a discussion.
You can contact us through andrew.beardsley@essex.ac.uk.
Who can attend?
Everyone is welcome - we talk about anything that you would like, but from a Buddhist perspective!
This could include world affairs, problems that arise in any aspect of our lives, or Buddhist principles.
The topic will be chosen by the group.
We look forward to meeting you!
