Postgraduate Taught students:

Monday January 6

• This is an optional event, but we would really encourage you to join us and meet your EBS Student Services Team who are here to support and guide you as you start your studies. Drop in for an informal chat anytime between 10am-4pm.
• Celebrate our school’s internationalism by adding your pin to our EBS World in One Place Map and send a postcard home!

• Do you know your LEAP from your FASER? Have you found your way around the various online systems we use at Essex?
• This session will take you through the most commonly used systems and apps to get you started
• Join us for this practical session to get you logged in, set up and ready for your studies.
• You can bring your laptop and devices and set them up too!

• You only need to attend once.

Tuesday 7 January 

• An introduction to Essex Business School, meet key members of staff and learn about the student support services available throughout your studies.

• Come and meet academic staff and the professional services team, Students' Union Vice President, peer mentors and other students on your course whilst enjoying a complimentary bite to eat.

• Meet your personal tutors, peer mentors and key members of staff from our central support teams, network and get to know your peers.

Wednesday 8 January 

• An introduction to the academic skills, services, and practices you will need at the University of Essex.

• You will learn about the requirements of postgraduate study, the nature of academic writing and coursework, the appropriate use of academic sources, and how to use our digital learning platforms.

Thursday 9 January

• Find out how the team can support you and discover everything you need to succeed in your studies.

• We'll cover the materials, resources, support services and workshops available to you.

• Discover what the Students' Union have in store for you - including local events in the city!
• You can sign up to a society, find out how to become a student rep, and learn more about volunteering opportunities.

Friday 10 January

• Learn about your engagement and attendance responsibilities.

• Find out how we value and reward full engagement in your studies.

• This session will outline how to ensure you are eligible for University sponsorship. We cover the criteria for home and international students. 

• Enjoy free hot drinks and biscuits. 

• Meet your tutors, the professional services team and peer mentors.

• Get to know your fellow students.
