About Maisie Cousins:
Maisie Cousins explores themes of power, femininity and indulgence, often bringing together visceral elements such as beauty and revulsion into a single image where these extremes coalesce.
Recently she turned to A I to help her rediscover lost childhood memories after family videos of visits to Blobbyland theme park with her Grandad were accidentally destroyed. In the Walking Back to Happiness series of photographs, she utilises AI to remake these precious memories. The results are both uncanny and touchingly nostalgic – glimmers of times which continue to sustain her.
About Urara Tsuchiya:
Urara Tsuchiya challenges the viewer to negotiate their own physical and emotional boundaries through creating miniature ceramic worlds for us to enter into.
Recent work finds her exploring her childhood fascination with Polly Pocket toys – a place she finds reassuringly familiar and safe to return to. What is now absent are the dolls that usually inhabit these fold-up homes, now replaced by the artist’s exquisitely crafted ceramic lingerie left nearby- a stand in for the artist’s body and her desire to be part of these miniature worlds.
