Jennifer Fleetwood is a criminologist and sociologist interested in crime and narrative. She is a Senior Lecturer at City St Georges, University of London.
Jennifer argues that personal narratives about crime have gained increasing prominence in contemporary culture. In What We Talk About When We Talk About Crime she looks at notable examples, asking whether they tell the ‘truth’, and whether they can help achieve justice. Her work challenges common assumptions and invites us to rethink how crime is constructed and understood through personal stories.
Whether you are studying criminology, sociology, or have an interest in media and social justice, this book talk will provide valuable insights into the relationship between narrative, power, and justice. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss key ideas from the book during the talk. Please join us for the seminar, to be in with a chance to win a copy of the book through a free raffle.
