This 7-week programme gives you the opportunity to work with a local business on a real-world business challenge.
How it works
Through a combination of workshops, mentoring, self-directed work, and teamwork, teams are posed a question by the ‘challenge-host’ and asked to create a report and presentation that should help the organisation understand the problem to a higher level, with suggested solutions worth exploring.
Three businesses will deliver three challenges to six student teams (made up by several students across different faculties). The business will gain insights from new ways of thinking, whilst engaging creatively with students. This will lead to a better understanding of the value that new insights can bring.
Each team will be mentored by an external industry expert and is required to deliver a well-researched solution to a real-world problem. The mentors are there to champion, challenge and advise their teams throughout the process. During specific sessions and throughout specific weeks, the mentors will be available to work with their teams and help on the strategy and learning parts of this programme.
During the seven-week period, you will develop the ability to work in a team, develop problem identification and solving skills, deliver and articulate suggested solutions, and realise limitations and benefits accordingly.
At the Grand Finale, teams will present their findings to an expert panel and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.
The prizes
1st Place - £1,000 shared among the team members
2nd Place - £750 shared among the team members
