Marlhen Valdes
¡Hola!

I first joined the University of Essex to take an MA in Latin American Government and Politics and after completing it I decided to stay on and complete a PhD which was on social movements in Mexico. I was attracted by studying at Essex as it is a very well-known university in Mexico. As a PhD student I have an excellent supervisor who is very supportive. They really care about my work and if I need to consult them they are always around. I was President of the Mexican Society at the University and we had over 300 members from many different countries. Essex comprehends the needs of overseas students and as a result is very multi-cultural. There are great facilities and the most interesting people to meet.
