I had the chance to study and stay at the Southend Campus. I loved each and every minute of it. Southend is a very convenient place, as you can find everything in proximity – the gym, school, library, accommodation, shops, train station etc. A big bonus is that it only takes about 50 minutes to travel to London. Apart from this, life at University Square was brilliant. I made friends from the very first day, which was probably helped by the lot of fun programs planned by the University and Student’s Union for the first week. Everyone is very friendly here: the staff, students and even the teachers. The teaching is carried out on a high level, I was very satisfied with it. I settled easily in to both the social and academic spheres because everyone was willing to help and everything was explained clearly. There were students from all over the world and there was no problem with socialising and making new friends. I found societies a really efficient way of finding people who share similar interests to me. If you’re a Slovakian student and are thinking of studying in the UK then don’t worry about applying to Essex because you will definitely spend the best time of your student life here and it will provide you with lots of opportunities to build your future career. Moreover, don’t be scared that you won’t find any Slovak students here, because there are a lot of us and we have our own Czecho-Slovak society where Slovak and Czech people socialise.
