Vice-Chancellor visit forges new links in South East Asia

Essex Vice-Chancellor Professor Anthony Forster has visited South East Asia to discuss new research collaborations and strengthen existing relationships between Essex and several higher education institutions.

Professor Forster was joined by Essex colleagues for the trip which included visits to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Bangkok. The trip began with Professor Forster visiting one of Essex's partners, Kaplan Singapore, before travelling to Singapore University of Social Sciences to discuss research and joint degree collaborations.

While in Singapore the Essex delegation also visited Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University, where Essex already has a successful student exchange partnership, to look at nurturing further collaborations in data analytics and computer science.

While in Kuala Lumpur Professor Forster and the Essex delegation visited several education institutions including Brickfields College, Taylor's University and the University of Malaya, before meeting members of the British Council to discuss future collaboration opportunities.

Potential research partnerships in data analytics, maths, business and actuarial science were discussed during a visit to the Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang and at Chulalongkorn Univeristy in Bangkok Professor Forster discussed strengthening our existing links in social sciences.
