A prestigious computer game industry event for independent developers is coming to our Colchester Campus.

The Big Indie Pitch sees independent games developers compete in a Dragons Den-style pitch to a panel of industry journalists, developers and publishers.

The competition has previously been held in cities including Shanghai, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Berlin and Vancouver, and now it's coming to The Games Hub on our Knowledge Gateway research and technology park.

Steven Huckle, founder of The Games Hub, said: “Hosting the Big Indie Pitch here at The Games Hub not only helps to open up even more opportunities for local developers, but this amazing event continues to put Colchester and the region on the map as an area of excellent game development.”

The Big Indie Pitch aims to highlight some of the world's best independent game developers. Winners get editorial coverage in prestigious industry media outlets including Pocket Gamer and AppSpy, and could win a share of a Steel Media marketing package worth $5,500.

Each team has four minutes to persuade a team of judges that their game is worthy of the Big Indie Pitch crown – then the Big Indie Pitch klaxon blows, and it's time to change table and do it all again.

The Big Indie Pitch will be held in early 2018 at Parkside Office Village on our Knowledge Gateway. Registration is open for both local teams wishing to compete and spectators.

The Games Hub offers an annual 40-week development programme for aspiring game and app developers. Since 2014, it’s fostered the skills and creativity of more than 50 individuals and has seen multi-award winning games created.
