Vice-President role for Berthold

Professor Berthold Lausen, Head of our Department of Mathematical Sciences, was announced as the new Vice-President of the European Association for Data Science at its annual General Assembly in Luxembourg.

The Association aims to provide a setting to foster communication and cooperation among all stakeholders of data science. It is a forum for research and scientific conduct, promoting transparent access to data, policy making as well as support of young scientists.

As president of the Gesellschaft für Klassifikation (GfKl) Data Science Society, Professor Lausen also spoke recently at an event organised by the German Consortium in Statistics where he mentioned that in 2014 Essex introduced programmes including the BSc Data Science and Analytics and the MSc Data Science  which are “providing our students with key skills for the digital economy of the UK and beyond”.
