At the time of his death in January 2017 our friend and colleague, Professor Anthony King from our Department of Government, was writing a book on British Prime Ministers since 1945.
The book was never completed but now, with the kind permission of Professor King’s family, we are delighted to be able to share the four draft chapters he had written.
They include a chapter each on Clement Attlee, Sir Anthony Eden and Sir Winston Churchill, and are preceded by an introduction containing personal anecdotes of Professor King’s own encounters with a succession of British Prime Ministers.
We very much hope you enjoy reading them.
