Thirty charity cyclists representing the hospitality industry, powered onto France after a refreshing pitstop at Wivenhoe House hotel, where they were looked after by students on our Events Management with Hospitality degree.

As they left Wivenhoe House, the cyclists were joined by the hotel’s general manager Oliver Brown, who completed the rest of the journey down to Champagne, via the Netherlands.

The students had arranged a stirring welcome for the riders who were cycling in support of the Master Innholders’ Charitable Trust, which supports hospitality students. As well as feeding and watering the group, they took them on a tour of Edge Hotel School.

Edge Hotel School student Rachael Lumer said: “We really enjoyed meeting so many people, it was a fantastic opportunity to build contacts and to use the skills we are developing on our course.”

The charitable fund-raising efforts were boosted by Edge Hotel School students and staff who were sponsored to pedal the equivalent distance of 335 miles on two static bikes set up on the hotel’s grounds.
