New play by Essex writer to be broadcast on BBC Radio 3

A new play by Dr Liz Kuti will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on 23 December.

Sea Longing tells the story of renowned folklore expert Robert Whyman who has spent his life developing an extensive collection of selkie stories and folktales. With time running out, the tables are turned as he gives a final interview of his own, excavating his own mythology and personal origins in a story-telling journey which takes him to some unexpectedly dark places.

The play stars Stephen Dillane and features music by Radiohead drummer Philip Selway. 

Dr Kuti is head of our Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies and Senior Lecturer in Drama. Before joining Essex she worked extensively as a playwright and actor in Irish theatre.
