We welcomed a record 120 graduates to the degree presentation ceremony which took place at the Fullerton Hotel in Singapore.
This year’s honorary graduand was trailblazing arts manager Juliana Lim who has helped to shape Singapore’s arts scene.
Juliana, who led the creation of the Singapore Heritage Week and the Heritage Trail, has demonstrated throughout her work the importance of making art available to the public and the benefits it has to society.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Lorna Fox O'Mahony represented the University of Essex at the ceremony and handed degrees to graduating students.
She said: ‘I am thrilled to see how our graduate community continues to grow and strengthen thanks to our successful partnership with Kaplan Singapore.
"Essex has longstanding links with Singapore. Fifty years ago, students from Singapore were among our very first graduates, just three years after Essex was established in 1964. Five decades later I am excited to see our special relationship with Singapore flourishing with close to 200 graduands for 2019."
The first graduation took place in 2017 with 98 graduates attending, rising to 116 in 2018.
