Rasheedat Olarinoye (BSc Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience) has learnt vital communication skills on her course, and she hopes to become a fully qualified psychologist after Graduation.
On top of her studies, Rasheedat has worked as a Senior Advisor in the Students’ Union Advice Centre, and has volunteered at Nightline.
She said: “Essex has provided me with amazing opportunities to work directly with hundreds of students.
“I’ve learned to be to be non-judgmental, empathetic and a supportive listener. My work with Nightline has helped me deal with individuals in vulnerable situations.”
Rasheedat has also worked as a counsellor with the Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative. She says her course and volunteering work has led her to train for a postgraduate certificate as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.
She said: “I would love to continue supporting individuals, and this training will help me achieve my ambition.”
