All this week we are celebrating the achievements of some of our students who are graduating in the class of 2019.

Big Essex Gold winner Sitong Zong (MA in Conference Interpreting and Translation) has achieved so much during her time at Essex, and she hopes to train as a translator after Graduation.

As well as winning the award, Sitong has worked as an interpreter for a tourism forum at the Olympic Stadium at Stratford, met senior translators at the EU in Brussels, and won her department’s translation challenge.

She also joined the Public Speaking Society, learned French and volunteered at a local charity in Clacton.

She said: “Essex has exceeded my expectations – and it’s given me so many opportunities. As a student from China, I came to Essex to gain skills as a translator and interpreter, but I’ll be leaving with so much more.”

After Graduation, Sitong is planning to stay in the UK to use her language skills to help British companies start trading in China.
