William Gurton (BSc Sports and Exercise Science) decided to enter the world of scientific research after an inspiring placement year.
In his third year, William did a placement at the Surrey Human Performance Institute. He also found the help and support given by the Employability and Careers team at Essex helped him on his first steps to become a researcher.
He said: “My time at Essex has allowed me to develop personally and professionally. I have gained experience from working in the Essex Human Performance Unit and the Green Exercise research team, and I’ve been Sports Development Officer for Student Sport thanks to the University’s Frontrunner scheme.”
He is now hoping to complete a MRes Exercise Physiology or transition straight to a PhD.
