More than 60 primary schools are being treated to special Christmas shows created by students at East 15 Acting School.
The ability to stream productions from East 15’s Corbett Theatre at its Loughton Campus has increased the number of schools the annual Christmas productions can reach.
As a result schools from throughout Essex – including Epping Forest, Chelmsford, Basildon and Southend - will be tuning in to watch versions of ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty’ on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 December and there is still time to book free tickets.,
Head of the MA/MFA Acting (International) Robin Sneller said: “The response from schools has been phenomenal and everyone at East 15 is delighted to be offering entertainment to schoolkids in so many schools in the local community and further afield!”
“The magical Christmas shows at East 15 have long been a fixture for local schoolchildren and they were normally brought to our theatre by the coachload.
“Unfortunately COVID-19 means pantomimes are being cancelled and touring shows to schools cannot happen meaning schoolkids might not be able to see any Christmas shows. As a result we decided to offer to take the shows to them.
“We recently filmed the productions live in the Corbett Theatre at East 15 and will be streaming them this week. We wanted to offer schools the chance to see the shows for free as we know that all schools are under financial pressure at the moment. It is a lovely event for us to be able to offer the community as a Christmas present from the University, hopefully it will also provide teachers at the end of term a well-deserved break!”
If you would like to tune in, you can book your free tickets on the East 15 website.
