An ambitious new partnership is being launched between the University of Essex and Aegean Omiros College (AOC) in Greece.

AOC, part of the Omiros Group, has campuses in Athens, Piraeus and Larissa and the agreement will see University of Essex validating degree courses delivered by AOC starting from September 2021.

The University of Essex’s portfolio of courses with Aegean College includes undergraduate and postgraduate validated degrees in the areas of Business Administration, Shipping, Tourism, IT, Allied Health, Psychology and Education.

In the years to come, the two institutions will seek to expand their academic portfolio with new innovative courses and will invest in joint research programmes.

Dean of Partnerships Professor Dominic Micklewright said: “We’re incredibly excited about our partnership with AOC which is one of the best-known colleges in Greece.

“AOC is a highly respected institution which shares our values including our commitment to excellence in education. AOC invests in the educational experience, listens to its students, embeds research in learning and works hard to ensure courses deliver life-changing benefits to its students.

“We’re very proud of our longstanding links with Greece including our large Greek alumni community. This partnership builds on those strong connections.”

Aegean College Chief Executive Officer Konstantina Makryplidi said: “The partnership with Essex, one of the most internationally renowned universities in the UK is an honour for us and makes us especially happy as it gives us the opportunity to contribute to the wider improvement of higher education in Greece.

“In the near future we aspire to jointly develop innovative courses and invest in joint research programmes.

“We believe that the key to success lies in joining forces and exchanging knowledge so that Greece can evolve into an international educational hub.”

This latest agreement extends the University of Essex network of academic partnerships across the world which includes China, Thailand, Singapore and France. Essex partnerships cover validation, franchise, joint awards and double degree arrangements
