Edge Hotel School staff and students are keeping their fingers crossed for graduate Brittany Carter as she competes in the BBC’s hit TV show The Apprentice, which launches this week

Brittany completed her BA Hotel Management at the Edge Hotel School in 2017 and has forged a successful career in the hospitality industry. She now joins a group of 16 hopefuls who will compete against each other in each episode of The Apprentice to secure investment from Lord Sugar, while avoiding being told ‘You’re fired!’.

Adrian Martin, Vice Principal at Edge Hotel School, said: “We are very proud of Brittany who was an excellent student at the Edge Hotel School.

“We have all watched her career progress and were delighted to see her in a new role as Multi-Property Sales Manager at Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel, just four years after graduating.

“To see her on The Apprentice is no surprise, she has incredible energy and business acumen and all of the staff and students here will be cheering her on.”

The Edge Hotel School, based at the University of Essex, offers students a unique hands-on experience in a fully-commercial 4* hotel which encourages students to develop vital skills and experience throughout their degree.

Brittany said: "I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the University of Essex. Having the experience of managing divisions in a fully functioning hotel like Wivenhoe House Hotel truly kick-starts your career in the industry.

“The experience I gained at the Edge Hotel School has assisted me through a fantastic career with Marriott Hotels, as well as giving me the skills to get onto The Apprentice. I would strongly recommend the course to anyone wishing to pursue a career in hospitality!"

Ranked 3rd in the UK for overall student satisfaction for Tourism, Transport and Travel, the Edge Hotel School has a 96.7% overall student satisfaction rate (National Student Survey 2021).
