Student showing final year project

Delegates from the world of computer science and technology came to a special event at the University of Essex which showcased a range of innovative final year student projects.

A flagship event for the university, the CSEE (School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering) Project Open Day 2023 was an opportunity for nearly 300 final year undergraduate students to showcase their projects to visitors from industry, potential employers and professional bodies, as well as university staff and fellow students.

For the students involved, the afternoon of demonstrations was a momentous occasion as it was the culmination of an entire year's work on their Capstone Project. The innovative projects and applications showcased a range of expertise including machine learning, robotics, gaming, artificial intelligence, cyber security and embedded systems.

Dr Vishuu Mohan, Senior Lecturer in CSEE, said: “I really want to thank all the students for their creativity and hand work on their Capstone Projects. The students provide the content that makes this open day so successful. The projects were impressive and included a wide range of applications including a humanoid robot with voice cloning and Chat-GPT, smart mirrors, cat scanners, sleep quality analysers, soft grippers, lettuce harvesting robots and VR games.”
