The fun begins at 1pm with an interactive fanzone, offering free taster sessions in basketball, climbing, and tennis, led by professional coaches. These sessions, running between 1pm to 3.30pm, are open to all skill levels and provide a great opportunity for children to try something new.
Throughout the afternoon, families can enjoy live performances from the Essex Flames cheerleaders and a special cultural showcase from the African Caribbean Society. Younger visitors can take part in face painting, temporary tattoos, and an Easter egg hunt, with fantastic prizes to be won.
Thanks to Hoopin'N'Lootin, lucky children will also receive free basketball jerseys, while those keen to test their skills can take part in challenges at the Essex Cricket Skills Zone.
Food and drink will be available from a variety of vendors, including Joe’s Whippy ice cream, Smokes Catering Pizza Van, and the Norwegian Bakery. Community stalls from local businesses such as Oaks Hospital and 3D Prints 4 You will also be present, offering interactive experiences and exclusive event-day deals.
The Community Day also marks the launch of Rebels Reach, a new initiative focused on expanding basketball opportunities in schools and underprivileged areas. Fans can visit the Rebels Reach stall to learn more and contribute to this important cause. The Rebels have also partnered with Tickets for Good to provide free and discounted tickets for NHS staff, charity workers, and those receiving cost-of-living support.
The day will climax with the Essex Rebels Women's team taking on the Caledonia Gladiators at 4pm, in what promises to be an excellent match as the Rebels prepare for the play-offs.
As part of the "Hoops for a Fiver, Kids for a Quid" deal, tickets for the game are just £5 for adults and £1 for children, making this an affordable and exciting day out for families.
