Profile

Biography

I am a Speech and Language Therapist with over 20 years experience working with adults with acquired conditions, and in particular I specialise in dysphagia (swallowing difficulties). I have been appointed to work in the Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub on the Colchester campus, to support students on placement at the Hub, to help develop services which support health and social care provision, which is underpinned by latest evidence and innovations. My appointment to the Hub is alongside my role in the NHS, where I am a Professional Lead for Speech and Language Therapy at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. I have a strong interest in research and have previously held the position of AHP Clinical Academic Lead. I have published on the topic of clinical academic careers and I am a committee member of the Clinical Academics in Speech and Language Therapy Clinical Excellence Network (ClinAc CEN). I also founded the East of England Dysphagia Forum. My research interests are in dysphagia, frailty, ethical decision-making, clinical academic careers
