Profile

Biography

My interests lie in understanding what perception can tell us about neuropsychology and vice versa. The bulk of my research has been focussed on learning and plasticity in the visual processing areas, in the hopes of developing rehabilitation strategies for those with visual impairments. However, I also have broad interests that include perceptual differences in people with migraine, perception in virtual and augmented realities and confidence and metacognition.

Visual Field Loss

This research explores the perceptive experience of people who have visual field loss, with the aim of developing strategies to improve their quality of life.

Current research

Augmenting reality for people with visual field loss

The rapidly advancing functionality in consumer available AR smart glasses has opened the market for potential sight aids for individuals who have visual field-loss. The needs of this impairment differ from those of reduced acuity. Our core technology is a software solution that maps an individual user’s blind field to provide an enhanced live stream about content from their blind field into their sighted field (we call it the support-window). We are recruiting people who have visual field loss to participate in our first trial. Please reach out if you are interested in participating.
