Biography

Jonathan Burton joined ISER in 1998 as a Senior Survey Research Officer. He worked on the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS). In 2005 he left the University to work at the Strategy Unit with the Cabinet Office as the Data Manager and Data Analyst. In 2007 he returned to ISER as a Research Fellow, and become Survey Manager of the BHPS. He is currently Associate Director, Surveys, for Understanding Society: The UK Household Longitudinal Study (UKHLS). Jonathan is also part of the survey methods group within ISER, and has published research on survey response, mixed mode survey design, and the willingness to consent to data linkage. As well as his role on UKHLS, he is also part of a research project looking at ways to improve the measurement of household finances (funded by ESRC/NCRM), and another project which seeks to understand, and improve informed data linkage consent in surveys.
