Ecodramaturgy
Naturalism is perceived by many to be an unsuitable form to be employed in ecological playwriting. The reasons for this range from the traditionally high carbon footprint of naturalistic theatre productions to the feminist critique of realism, and the perceived conservatism of mimetic representation. However, my research reveals naturalism to play a vital role within contemporary ecodramaturgy.
