Biography

Phillip qualified as a dental surgeon from UCL in 1990 and has been a partner at Chalkwell Dental Practice in Southend since 1993. He was formerly postgraduate dental tutor at East of England deanery. Phillip has sat on a variety of Dept of Health and NHS modernisation agency advisory groups including as member of Dept of Health Skill Mix in dentistry advisory group. He was also until 2016 Chair of the Research Committee at the FGDP(UK) RCS Eng University of Essex collaboration with outside agencies In 2014 Phillip was elected to the Faculty Board of the FGDP(UK) Royal College of Surgeons of England Since 2014 he has been Chair of the Research Committee FGDP(UK) Royal College of Surgeons of England Phillip has led a joint collaboration between University of Essex, British Dental Association and Faculty of General Dental Practice to design, pilot and deliver first nationwide dental primary care based clinical audit programme 2010 to present Phillip led a joint collaboration with NHS South East Essex to design and deliver PCT wide primary care based collaborative clinical audits from 2010, culminating in reaching the finals of the HQIP National Clinical Audit awards in 2011 with the project'A PCT wide collaborative clinical audit selecting recall intervals for patients according to risk' Committees/Working Groups Member of the Directors' Group for Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy programmes within the UK Phillip is a member of the Chief Dental Officers (CDO) skill mix working group, Dept of Health, 2009 to present External Examiner University of Sheffield 2012 - 2016 University of Liverpool 2016 onwards University of Birmingham 2017 onwards
