Katie Betteridge

Biography

I've always had a passion for dance and performance and from a young age volunteered at my dance school, helping with classes and annual productions. Since graduating from University and working in schools to support students' academic and well-being needs I noticed a common issue with the students' aspirations. I've worked in the Outreach Team at the University and as a Further Education Outreach Officer for Make Happen, which is part of the OfS Uni Connect programme. Working within widening participation allowed my creativity to flourish, delivering educational projects and events to help motivate and raise students' aspirations whilst raising their attainment within higher education. This experience and the completion of my OCR Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development has helped me to transition to Student Development, to work with students and academics to provide strategic support that will improve their graduate outcomes. When I'm not delivering guiance appointments and lectures on employability to Arts & Humanities students, I like to take part in local productions and run dance-fitness (DDMIX) classes in my hometown.
