Biography

I am a communications professional with over 20 years experience working in higher education. I have expertise in corporate communications, crisis communications, corporate publications, media relations, copywriting, media training, speech writing and internal communications. I am the External Communications Team lead for arts and humanities research communications working directly with academic departments and individual researchers to help them develop core media skills, promote their research through the media and identify opportunities for them to contribute to public debates relevant to their expertise. Other responsibilities include: Coordinating and writing award nominations for the University, including submissions to the Times Higher Education Awards. Coordinating our internal programme of media training events that help researchers hone their communication skills. Responding to corporate press and media enquiries and ensuring the University is represented accurately and fairly. Coordinating strategic projects which cut across faculties and developing consistent core messaging to inform publications, web pages and social media. Leading on strategic communications for Essex's Institute of Public Health and Wellbeing. Providing content for social media promotion.
