Biography
I am a current PhD student in the Department of Government at the University of Essex. My main research interests concern media discourse, hegemony and constructions of identity in mainstream UK media. More broadly, I enjoy working with forms of discourse analysis including Poststructuralist Discourse Theory and in the past, Critical Discourse Analysis and Thematic Analysis. I arrived at the University of Essex from a multi-disciplinary background including media studies, criminology, psychology, social policy and international relations. I am currently enjoying peer reviewing for the student journal alongside my PhD related studies.

Thesis
UK Mainstream Media Coverage of War, Conflict, Identity and Power: A comparative analysis of the Russia-Ukraine and Irael- Palestine wars using Poststructuralist Discourse Theory and Logics of Critical Explanation
My research analyses discourse from UK mainstream media concerning identity within the Russia- Ukraine, Israel- Palestine wars. My thesis will focus on how victims, perpetrators and political actors between each war are constructed differently by mainstream news media outlets. My research will then consider how these constructions contribute to an overarching political environment of hierarchy, hegemony and imperialism, ultimately perpetuating dominant ideologies.
